Sam on Johnson
A tough press conference for Sam Allardyce, who now faces questions concerning the Black Cats' former winger Adam Johnson, who has just begun a six-year jail sentence for grooming and sexual activity with a girl aged 15.

"As a professional you have to deal with it and in the only way you can do," says Allardyce.

"The decision has been made and you have to accept it and make sure it does not affect the dressing room - and I'm confident it won't do.

“We’ve lost a hugely talented player in Adam Johnson, irrespective of his indiscretions. He obviously got what he deserved but we’ve lost a talented player I would’ve liked to keep but it was taken out of our hands by other factors.”

Well you got to keep him for an extra year and it did fuck all for you. Taken out of our hands by other factors? You twat.

Not really sure what he's said wrong there

Me neither. You've got to have a real hatred to criticise BFS for that...

Re: Sam on Johnson
Picking it to pieces I guess you could say that he's already lining up his excuses should Sunderland not stay up. We've seen this from him a thousand times and 'it was unprecedented in my career that a very talented and important, popular player gets convicted of sex offences. I tried to keep the players positive but of course it's always going to be in the back of their minds'...

So that one's tucked away in his back pocket. Blame Johnson and indirectly blame the players for a lack of character. Sounds about par for the course. Nothing's his fault, ever.

The man's a grade A cunt. So relieved we're shot of him. Like finding youve been cured of AIDS.

Re: Sam on Johnson
With respect stavros the grade A's are the posters who still want to examine everything Allardyce in order to find another reason to denigrate.

Take note that even nicey has eased up on this sort of thing.

Re: Sam on Johnson
Perhaps a little less regret about Sunderland losing a top player might be more appropriate.
When the player has been jailed for being a NONCE

Re: Sam on Johnson
I'm hoping this has been taken out of context.

If he has mentioned Adam Johnson without mentioning the suffering endured by the victim who was abused by one of his employees and who used his status as a Sunderland player to abuse this girl then he is a massive self-centred cunt.

Re: Sam on Johnson
He could've said I'm disgusted by what he did and all sympathy is with the victim and I wish the club had sacked him sooner rather saying I'm gutted I've lost our best player and if we go down that's the reason

Re: Sam on Johnson
How long do you want Sunderland to go over the same ground?

He's asked questions, he answers them

"He obviously got what he deserved"

True

They have lost a talented player

True

Re: Sam on Johnson
If he did say exactly that then it shows him up for being the classless pig that he is. The question would be where exactly where would he draw a line, how bad does the crime need to be for him NOT to say ''I would’ve liked to keep but it was taken out of our hands by other factors''??

whufcroe 7:55 Thu Mar 31
Re: Sam on Johnson
He's already said a load of stuff on Johnson and the victim when it was real news, it's not now is it?

Johnson 7:58 Thu Mar 31
Re: Sam on Johnson
So if Nicey's eased up, who are the Grade A's still doing it? Come on comma, don't be shy.

Private Dancer 7:59 Thu Mar 31
Re: Sam on Johnson
The fact is he is lamenting losing a player who has been banged up for being a nonce. That is wrong no matter how anyone tries to spin it. In his defense though if you are put on the spot live you can say the wrong thing without thinking properly.

I always thought BFS and his proud relegation record were the REAL victims in this whole sorry episode.

Oh look the squeaking policeman has been activated.

I would be flattered to have a stalker but for its lack of quality.

Private Dancer 7:59 Thu Mar 31

He's in a press conference being asked if he'll miss the a player of Johnson's quality.

What do you want him to do lie?

Of course Sunderland will miss him, of course the manager will miss him. I'm not sure how that in anyone's head is somehow running the victim down.

Re: Sam on Johnson
Roe, it's because Allardyce said it don't you get their angle?

Anyone else replying like that would be cut some slack.

Private Dancer 8:11 Thu Mar 31
Re: Sam on Johnson
Who says he has to lie? The point being made here is that he could have answered the question with a bit more class, etc. It doesn't have to be black or white.

Sven Roeder 8:14 Thu Mar 31
Re: Sam on Johnson
He could also have said its a terrible thing that's happened but now is not the appropriate time and place to talk about it.
Any more questions on our game tomorrow?
